Going to Dublin to celebrate St Patrick's Day on the 17th March through the day AND night. What to expect?

I'm going to Dublin for St Patrick's Day this year on the 17th and coming back the next day. What kinda stuff go on in the day and what's the night life like?

I can't wait!

There's a massive parade in Dublin on St Pat's day full of floats, people dressed up etc, you know the score! They've even been known to dye the Liffey, the river that runs through Dublin, green! As everybody knows, the Irish like to party and St Pat's night is one of the best nights out you'll ever have! On the downside, Ireland is going through a bad recession at the moment and, it being a capital city, it is EXPENSIVE. Don't expect much change out of a tenner when you buy ONE drink! If you like to drink, it might be an idea to have a few drinks indoors before you go out, otherwise you will come back a few notes short of a full purse!

It will be a really good laugh I'm sure - I'm very jealous that you are going!

you should go to the guinness brewery during the day - they always have extra stuff for paddys day, and this year its even extra special cos its their 250th anniversary.

Here's an article covering St. Patrick's Festival in Dublin. You should go earlier if you can. Notice there is a related post about a contest; there a a few easy competitions underway that can snag you some tickets to the events.

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

just expect a blooming good time! and one hell of a hang-over!

everywhere you go in Dublin there will be some kind of celebration, the night life is great and any pub is as good as a night club.

Have a fantastic time
I wish I could be there!

It'll be great fun. Just watch your personal belongings - there are petty criminals in Dublin, just like there are everywhere else.
