Going to Ireland for honeymoon. Need advice!?

Hi,

If money isn't an issue why don't you travel around a bit. I head to the south of Ireland, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Kilkenny or Wexford.
I'm just back from Dunbrody House Hotel and would definitely reccommend one of the suites. www.dunbrodyhouse.com

Waterford is nice, and the surrounding area has lots to discover. Dunmore East adventure center might interest you. Faithlegg Hotel is nice as is Waterford Castle if you are planning on stopping here. In September there is a slow food festival in Waterford which should be good.

Further from Waterford heading towards Cork, Ardmore is beautiful the Cliff House Hotel has beautiful views and food. www.bestloved.com
While there stop at the White Horses Restaurant for lunch, not to be missed.

If you head to kerry from the Waterford direction stop in Lismore its beautiful and the Summerhouse is a lovely little shop with a cafe that does great food and even better cakes. Lismore is lovely to walk around in the sunshine.

I have really enjoyed www.theoldconvent.ie in Tipperary and you can get there easily from Lismore. The five course taster menu is always beautiful. The place itself is near some very scenic spots ( The Vee), excellent hospitality, lovely rooms, breakfast is so good and attention to detail is amazing. Its a gem.

What kind of advice do you need??
If you are thinking of where to go it really depends on what you want from your holiday, romantic, historic, good nightlife etc. Maybe if you add more details we can be more helpful ;)

You will generally feel safe anywhere in Ireland, if you are looking for a good mix of everything I would suggest Galway, it is a beautiful city and small enough that you can walk everywhere plus from here you can drive to Connemara which is probably the most beautiful place in Ireland or go out to the Aran Islands. Kilkenny is another beautiful city, slightly quieter than Galway but very busy during the summer. When do ye travel? Dublin is a great place to visit too and there is lots to do.

You must visit Galway. It is an wonderful town. I would recommend staying in a bed and breakfast there. The Frommer's company has a few that they recommend. From Galway you can take days trips to the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren. The shopping and food are wonderful. Also, almost everything is a walking distance.

Dublin is also a must in Ireland. If you like beer, try the Guinness factory. Also, don't miss Grafton Street for shopping and Trinity University for the Book of Kells.

One problem that many tourists run into when they go overseas is the change of currency. I would suggest finding some international payment methods.

I know that a few years ago American Express offered a traveler's check card (instead of carrying traveler's cheques). But they stopped that service. Maybe you can find a financial institution that does the same sort of thing.

This kind of depends on your definition of amazing. I like Galway and Dublin -- Galway is easy to walk around and it's right on the ocean, especially if you stay in the central area (near the University, for example). Dublin is also easy to walk around, and there are tourist buses that you can hop on and hop off that will take you around the city and to some of the more far-flung sites. You might also want to think about someplace like Westport, in Co. Mayo. Again, very easy to get around on foot, it's hard to get lost, I've never yet had a bad meal there, and it gives you easy access to places like Achill Island and Croagh Patrick (I don't know if there are buses, unfortunately, since we've always had a car when we have gone, but I'm sure if you call any hotel there and ask they could tell you). You might also want to look into Cork, but since I haven't spent as much time there I can't say much about it myself.

go to galway, its amazing. so many restaurants, pubs, shops, parks. must go to the aran islands ;) fab islands, great because they still speak irish and are real native to the old irish culture so its great.
galway is considered a gaeltacht area (where they speak a lot of irish ) and it's jsut a lovely, calm, easy breezy county. i love it myself, want to move there for awhile when im older.
also, of you want to leave galway for the day you could drive up to mayo to westport which is consider one if not the most beautiful town in ireland, always winning competitions for tourists awards and tidy towns competitions.
