Good Salary in Dublin,Ireland ? |
Hi !
I have a job opportunity in Ireland ,Dublin and need to explore the cost of living .The work location is in Dun Laoghaire-suburb of Dublin.I need to know what makes a really nice salary in Dublin for a family of two and to rent a decent house in one of the suburbs .
Also what is the "must have" salary before even considering relocation to Ireland.
(Tips n Tricks for salary negotiation with an Irish employer most welcome :))
Thanks,George |

Well George dublin is not a cheap place to live anymore...A house in Dun Laoighaire would set you back for 500 to 600 thousand euro and that would be cheap .. Thats for a basic three bedroom house... Its a lovely place though . Its along the Coast ... You would to earn about 40,000 euro a year Min...Even that would not be enough to get you a loan for a Mortgage ... You could live in a less desirable area and commute ...
Ignore Brian D below.. There are parts of Dublin that are not safe but so are parts in most Citys around the world.. Dublin is a great City .. Ive lived here all my life... |

First a suggestion: Look up websites of Estate agents and Rental property. Get some idea on how much . Generally a mortgage isn't much more than renting. I guess two of you should be not less than €85K. for a comfortable living. I would think |

Hey, I just made the same choice a couple of months ago, moving from Spain!
You say you are a family of two? How many bedrooms? A two-bedroom house/apartment in Dun Laoghaire is likely to cost in the region of 1300-1800 Euros per month. Take a look on http://www.daft.ie and you'll find lots of rented accommodation in the area. If you're prepared to travel a bit, you could look further down the coast in Co.Wicklow where the rented accommodation is cheaper.
"Must have" Salary? That depends on what your living style is like, i.e. if you eat out a lot etc. Dublin isn't cheap. Take the monthly rent as an indication of what you'd need as a salary. Buying a car is very expensive too.
With regards to tips for salary negotiation:
If you're moving from abroad, look for assistance in moving, an allowance, temporary accommodation etc.
Know your worth. Find out what similar jobs pay.
Never give a figure when asked how much you would like to earn. Turn the question back on them and what range is typically paid for the role. If the employer pushes, then give a range and refer to market rates.
Good Luck! |

yep...Dublin is the most expensive place in Ireland - you would expect to pay twice as much for a 3 bedroom house in Dublin rather then say somewhere outside the capital! The cost of living is very expensive.... what have you been offered already? |

Not trying to put you off but be carefull, Dublin is no longer a safe place to live, the local dubs would rob their own mother, the crack and heroin problem is worse than London and the cost of living is massive not forgeting it is over run with every asylem seeking tramp you can imagine |
