Eire is the name given to the whole island by Devalera's government. As debated in the Dail recently it is time to get a name that reflects the Republic of Ireland and not one that lays claim to the six counties - as that claim no longer exists under the Anglo Irish Agreement.
and before you all start giving me thumbs down - that's not my opinion - it's fact, as much as those facts hurt.
Now is as good a time as any to buy cross border - the euro wont rise too much further, the prices are realistic too. |

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

There's a good chance they will fall even further by the end of the year.
They were massively over-valued in the first place anyway. |

Good chance the prices will fall further but if you see a property you like and can afford go ahead and buy rather than losing your chance. Shop around for the best deal. |

I would not move yet. The housing crisis in Ireland is only starting and prices will fall yet again before the end of the year. I would hang on a little longer. There are still some construction companies building here but no one is buying at the moment. |

You can get very good value now in the Republic, however they may fall further or may also rise slightly if the banks and building societies start lending again. If you can afford to wait for a few months then I would suggest that you do so, and keep checking the prices via the internet. Of course a lot will depend on where you want to buy your house. By the way unless you are writing or speaking in Irish you do not use the word Eire. If you do move to the Republic you will be very welcome. |

Best to rent for 6 months and get a feel for the market. Predictions are they could fall by another 10 % in the current year. Dublin city has almost bottomed out but there will be still bargains in the suburbs and Meath and Kildare, where the market is stagnant. |

Wait for a while, till the summer at least, and save as much as you can in the meantime. If you are hoping to find a mortgage, the more you have already amassed, the better off you will be.
Keep an eye on www.daft.ie for house prices in your chosen area. |
