Yes it's beautiful.
I was staying in my friends grandmothers house which was on a steep hill and had gorgeous views of mountains. There are sheep everywhere and they had a job trying to keep them "out of the flowers" haha it was funny.
When I was there it was really small town and lovely I did notice a few holiday homes being built, I hope they haven't ruined it, like they did to parts of Donegal.
I also spent time at the beach and cycling around the place. My friend recommened not visiting outside peak times as most of the pop are not there all year round.

Yes, I was there, it's a marvellous and wild place. There's a ruined famine village there, and it is a wonderful landscape with some great beaches. The German writer Heinrich Boell lived there for a time, with his family, he wrote about it.

its windy and boggy...and lovely when the sun shines. I do a lot of walking and Achill is a great place to walk. The cliffs that someone else has mentioned have a fantastic walk along the top. Fantastic views. It's an isolated place but soooooooooooo Irish. I love it.

Rossie
yes i have, beautiful part of the country, but very very isolated, the sheep walk on the roads in the small villages.

what is it you want to know??

the highest sea cliffs in europe are at the far west coast of achill and achill has some of irelands best beaches

AnteK
aye i have
why?

Yes, I have been there. What do you want to know about it?

yeah it was really pretty, we climbed a mountain, and the view was fantastic

however when we went to get lucnh i forget where we went but it was like one of the only resturants around but they just totally ripped you off and overcharged you for the food completly. they even charged my mom liek 75 cents for a bit of blackcurrent in her guniess (the whole bottle is only 2 or 3 Euro).

I'm laughing at some of the answers you got! 'Animals roaming around'. Well, I suppose sheep are animals and they DO roam around the island occasionally, but mostly they are in the fields. Achill is the second most beautiful place in the world, Kerry being the first. The scenery on a fine day is breathtaking. There is a hostel called 'The Valley House', which is terrific. Its so good that the locals drink in the bar there. You'd love it! The craic is ninety! - an Irish way of saying it's great fun. If you get the chance to, then go, but make sure it's not in the Winter. From Spring to Autumn is the best time. Enjoy yourself!

Google 'Valley House' and have a look at what's on the site. It's very good.

Yes and I really didn't like it.
It had very little facilities and was very windy and boggy and there were animals (cows, sheep) just roaming the roads.
That was five years ago, It might have changed now.

Merovingian
No, but I doubt its any different from Craggy Island.
