Has anyone been to ireland for a honeymoon?

my fiance and i have decided on ireland as our honeymoon spot. we want somewhere that is excluded from busy cities, yet maybe 10-15 minutes away from shopping and lots of activities. somewhere with beautiful scenery and amazing hotel rooms maybe close to a waterfront would be awesome. we would rather not spend more than $300 per night. thanks

I am from Galway, so this may seem baised but I think it is definately the best city to visit because it is probably what you expect and therefore want Ireland to look and feel like,
It has typical 'Lonesome windswept Celtic '' scenery in Conamara, which is located about 30 minutes from the City, and then the City itself is more of a big town with a rich history it also has a fantastic night life.
Kerry also is a very beautiful place, scenery wise it would rivial Conamara, however it lacks a City, (it does have Killarney-nice but small, Kenmare-very nice but smaller again, Tralee-avoid).

West Cork is absolutely beautiful. Try Schull for example or maybe around Skibbereen. It is a beautifully romantic area and unlike Killarney it has managed to avoid being over run by tourism and is still quite natural & beautiful.

Try Killarney, you could be near the lakes there, and it is beautiful.

Try www.discoverireland.ie. My parents went to Donegal and absolutely loved it, Kerry is beautiful too. If you want a bit more night-life and shopping I would recommend Galway.

Laura
Nope, but I live in Ireland and must admit- it is pretty amazing.
A really good website is http://www.discoverireland.com/ire/. It is really informative.

I would recommend Waterford, Kerry, Kilkenny or Dublin. These places are lovely. There are some lovely hotels down the country that are not even that expensive. If you want to stay somewhere in Dublin the Dalkey would be a really good place to try. Check out www.dalkey.ie for more information.

Happy holidaying!
