You bet it has, it takes me an hour to drive up, and it;s over 50% cheaper for me right now! im expecting a baby and im going up next week to buy all my baby stuff, ill save €400 for €20 euro in petrol!! not to mention the amount i will save on nappies etc..in the future!
For a extreme example, i got a quote for travertine tiles today in dublin, for 9000 EURO!!! an hour on the net and im getting them delivered from England for under 1000!!! that's including 300 euro SHIPPING. I have no loyalty to the retailers who have been ripping me off for years, and a government who keeps taking money from the average wage earner to pay for the mistakes they made!! I didn't exploit people during the so called celtic tiger like the banks or property developers yet their the ones getting the bailouts!!! It makes me so angry!!
Sorry for the rant! lol..

tzddean
No, it's too far away

I am sure people living close to the border do go up considering the sterling is weak against the euro and the stuff is half the price. If I was living closer I certainly would as most of our stuff comes from overseas anyway ...

Guaranteed Irish!!!
not really it depends on where you live.If you take into account travel costs either by car/train/bus.Time,hassle,parking and traffic well then Id say no its not for me.Id much prefer to shop Irish

Not at all.

It's too far away from where I live to really make any difference, and then there is the time lost sitting in traffic, which I personally find to be a real head-wreck. No, you can always earn money back, but time lost is much harder to get back.

bluebell
No, I'd have to save more than the cost of the petrol and the time involved to make it worthwhile. However, I am quite happy to buy from UK (including the North) online and have the stuff delivered to me.

Nope, it would take me about four hours to get there, and then home again. Not worth the hassle. Buy Irish!!

I can't drive up there because I have a provisional licence, which I just got but I do know a lot of people that do go, I asked one of them to get me a bottle of Bombay Sapphire, which cost me €20 I think it's about €25-€35 here. I probably would, if I could I only live an hour or an hour and a half from Newry and my car it very light on petrol.

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

The South is waaaay cheaper than the North. What are you talking about? You do live in America, right?

Ann O
Not at all.
Take into account where you live in Ireland, you still would have to take a car for multiple shopping. You have to take into account petrol, etc, unless you were living in the border.
You also have shops like Lidl and Aldi which are brilliant for bargains.

promod D
there is less expense of living in south
......promod
