I live here in Dublin,well the suburbs...Duburbia.
I'm less than twenty minuits away from city centre on the D.A.R.T.(Dublin Area Rapid Transit). Dun Laoghaire to be precise. Great place to be if you are a music lover of any kind. A lot of History too. In fact something for everyone.

Dublin has changed so much in the past 20 years. I don't like it very much anymore.

I was there during the eighties and early nineties, and during the eighties in particular, Temple Bar was a sleazepit you didn't go down after dark, it was considered dangerous, full of drugs and prostitudes and nasty people ..... nowadays it looks prettier, and there are people who would argue that in essence Temple Bar hasn't changed. Now there are just stag parties there to take advantage of the drugs, prostitudes and other assorted nasties ....

I don't like the traffic problem in Dublin, and I don't like the way the LUAS was messed around with - I have heard stories about how much cash exchanged hands in order to have the LUAS route changed and changed again. Plus I think it's ridiculous that the LUAS lines don't meet at any point. I mean, what kind of city planning is that?

And don't get me started on the cost of living there - property prices have been extortionate for the past 10 years, unbelievable. 4 million Euro for a 3 bedroom house? Come on. Dublin has gone up its own **** in the worst possible (and non-sexual) way, and even friends of mind who are through and through Dubliners have admitted this. One has even said that she'd now live in Limerick if she didn't have so many family commitments in Dublin, because Limerick is how Dublin used to be - small and friendly.

Hey I live in Dublin on the south side and Im afraid i have to disagree with the rest of the comments.

Dublin is not a great city! As soon as I have finished by degree, Im leaving! The city is dirty and although there are many (and I stress MANY nice mannerly people) I find most people to be quite rude.

For example, when I got back from America, were everyone I met was friendly and welcoming, the moment I stepped off the plane at Dublin. I was kicked, pushed and people were awful!

Now I dont want to say Ireland is crap, Its not I love Ireland and I think most tourists appreciate the country rather that Dublin City.

But trust me if you do get the chance to travel, go to sydney, the barrier reef, Singapour, Los angeles any were else than this over priced city and dull city. But if you want to come to Ireland, travel down the country to Galway, Cork, Kerry or Dongeal!

Its nice to find someone on an American site who lives in the same county as me!
Well, I'm currently not living in Dublin since I had to move to Kildare but I'm still a Dubliner :D
I like visiting Dublin once a month when I go see my aunt and grandfather :)

slipstreamer
Yes I have, great city.

Music of the Night
I live there. And I don't like the place. It's different when you only come once in a while, but honestly, I'm fed up with the city. Especially Dublin Bus. Don't get me started. I was waiting an hour for a bus today. And I'm on the Airport route!!
But yea, a lot of nasty crap happens in Dublin. It's fairly kippy too.

Geek In The Pink. ♥
I went to the City Centre on Friday - I live in Kildare.
I go to school in "Duburbia" LOL.

I'd go to Dublin City Centre more often if I could though.
