That is a serious amount of money by most people's standards here. You will have no problem unless you live a very material lifestyle. A tv licence costs nearly 200 euro for a year. Cost of tv channels varies, but approx 80-100 a month for all available channels. electricity is expensive here although we have two rates, one for daytime and one for nightime (11-8 in winter and 12-9 in summer). petrol is 1.20 euro a litre. The income tax rates are 21 and 42 per cent (which you will definitely be on for a great part of your salary).. Childcare is expensive but you probably wont need that if your wife is not working.

We have high taxes on wine and alcohol generally, cigarettes and car purchase.

Honestly if I had your money I would not be asking questions on answers here as you do not know who people are or whether they are correct answers. I would find out through proper research.

hunnie, you will be more than fine if you are on that salary, without a doubt. there is absolutly no way you will have to worry about the cost of bills etc. your making nearly double of what an average couple would bring in a year.

Do it! Thats a good salary and you will be quite comfortable.
1550 is a good guess on houses in city centre sort of locations- there are cheaper options available but if you are like me, then 1550 is a better option- saves on taxis and all that jazz.

On telly, if you get Sky- about 65 a month. Cheaper options available.
Electricity- the bills come every 2 months and on an average, in a house of 5, we have 250.
Gas- about the same as electricity. The bills increase during winter.
Transport- depends on how you will move. If you are in walking distance of work, then nothing obviously. Taxis, luas, dart all depend on frequency of use. Car- petrol is expensive and there is tax and insurance but otherwise. Possibly a good idea with a little baby to have one though.

Depending on which part of Dublin , the size of accommodation,extent of furnishing and your taste, you can get by as little as E850 per month for digs. Around E80/mth for gas and electricity and around E150 for oil for the heating for the whole winter.Never rent a place with electric heating, it will burn a big hole in your pocket.
If you are driving, be aware the size of engine matters,that a new bill is coming out this year .There will be tax increment for engines more than 1800cc and carbon emissions will also be taken into account.And the insurance will cost more with a bigger car.So a smaller cc with a lower fuel consumption rate will be an ideal option.
Food is relatively cheap if your lady cooks .Try to bring as much as you can , what your baby needs ,cos they will be cheaper in the States.If your missus is breast feeding it will be a plus,it's not only good for the baby, you can save on the formulas for it as well. You may also consider using rewashable napkins which are not only environment friendly but will save you a bundle.
I am not sure what your tax break is but you can get rebates for your wife who is not working and also for the baby. Also, it will be a plus if you can get medical insurance for you and your family into your salary package.
Thats all I can think of. Also check daft.ie for accommodation. I am sure you will get by with enough saved for the annual holiday trip back stateside. Good luck. Cheers.
