There ARE Post codes in the Republic, but only in Dublin City, They go from 1 to 24 and also have one with 6W.

You can try different was of putting it in, ie:

D24

or

Dublin 24

or

Dub 24

or

24

Just play around with it, sometimes if you just put the name of the county in it works.

My mum used to receive Christmas cards from a friend overseas which always had a number for a postcode. In Ireland we don't have postcodes. We never had the heart to tell the sender that what she was actually including was the house phone number !!
We found it somewhat amusing. And the cards arrived safely.

My suggestion - try any numbers you like until something works. It's not going to make any difference to delivery efficiency. Have you tried the county details - i.e. Co. Cork, Co. Sligo etc. ?

only dublin has postal codes.they go from 1-24 eg D1,
D8, D24

Apart from Dublin the rest of the Republic of Ireland doesn't have codes. The code for Northern Ireland starts BT......

Dublin has postal districts, which can be even numbers up to 24, or odd numbers up to 17, or '6W'.

There are no postal codes anywhere else in the Republic of Ireland, and there will not be any time soon. The answer here which claims they're being introduced in two months is incorrect.

Any web form which thinks otherwise is *broken*.

If, on the other hand, the address you're looking for is in Northern Ireland (Counties Antrim, Armagh, Down, Derry/Londonderry, Fermanagh, and Tyrone) then it will have a UK postcode beginning with 'BT'. You can look up the postcode for those addresses at this address:

many areas do not have a postal code.

Dublin, Capital of the republic of Ireland, is the only city to have postal codes in Ireland. The rest of the Ireland dont have any postal codes and would be introduced from jan 1st of 2008.

For a yahoo account, it accepts the hypen (dash) -

I tried allsorts, n/a na none Donegal etc but it spat its dummy over it. Go for the - symbol.

There are no postal codes in the Republic of Ireland outside of Dublin.

I've had this problem before and used 0000 00 with PayPal and Amazon.co.uk without any problems.

Hello Asker,
The only post-codes in IRELAND, REFER TO THE 6 COUNTIES IN THE NORTH OF IRELAND...There are no postal codings, for anywhere else in Ireland. So, go back to the bank, laugh at them, right in their face, and tell them that they really should go deeper into their criterior for opening an account in the REPUBLIC of Ireland..I do so hope this helps you, with this stoopid BANK.....Tony M...
