Honestly what do Irish girls think of first generation Irish-American guys? |
Like 100% first generation (parents from Ireland).
So what do you think of narrowbacks?
Be brutally honest.
Thanks ladies :) |

I should be doing something else
|
I never think about Irish American guys - I could never honestly say what I think of a person based on their nationality and ancestral lineage because everyones personality varies from person to person.
What I like in a person is someone laid back who doesn't take themselves too seriously.
By the way I just had to google 'Narrowbacks' I had never heard that term before. |

sorry John but you're not 1st generation irish if you're American. |

I have some cousins reared in the US, they're alright. But they did have the tendency to look down on us because we didn't have the same things as we do. But now we're even, hahaha. |

You will have to explain what a narrowback is, as its a term I have never heard off.
I don't know any 1st generation American men, or plastic paddies, so I can't really comment. I have some 1st generation Canadian cousins, they love coming over here, but hold a romantic, and unrealistic view of Ireland |

Out of sight, out of mind. I don't think about them at all, unless our paths cross. And they can be charming, just like our own - or exasperating, like some of our own, too. |

Well, it wouldn't be something i think about frequently! Ha! The Amercan accent annoys me sooo much though so.... |

I figured it was okay for me to answer this as Irish men were answering(?) At least I am the right sex, if not nationality. It depends on the man, not the accent. Women are women the world over. If you are charming, good looking and nice, you will likely do well.
Irish over in Ireland don't use narrowback. That's an immigrant US thing. And not a polite thing to say at all.
Edit - When he says he is 1st generation, he is not saying he is not American. He is the first generation of his family that was born in the US; he has Irish born immigrant parents.
That is how it works in multicultural immigrant based countries. Japanese Americans do the same thing = issei (first-generation nikkeijin), nisei (second-generation nikkeijin), sansei (third-generation nikkeijin), etc.. |
