If you are going to pay using paypal, email the seller and ask him/her if he/she will send your item to an address that is not official on your paypal account. If he says yes, then you are good to go.

If the item is over a certain value, the recipient will have to pay taxes, unless it has been purchased in the EU.

If you are buying from a reputable supplier, just simply provide your credit card details & address either by secure website or phone if you prefer. Paypal is good if they accept that method too.
Most suppliers ship (post) to Ireland without any problem.
I've bought several times & also booked flights.
It's worrying first time but persevere, just be sure they seem reliable & genuine traders.
