How can i find a taxi to recover a lost item with no name, number or name of the company for the taxi driver?

Ask your neighbour what cab company she called.
Call the dispatcher and tell her the address you were picked up from and the time. There should be a log that she can look in and find that driver.

It sounds like you'll have to check the phone book - how did you get the taxi? Did your neighbor call for it or do they just drive by and one was randomly stopped?

Without even a taxi name it's going to be tough. Is there a specific car color you can sort of go by? Otherwise you'll just have to call each one and ask for lost and found and hope that you can track it that way.

Sorry I know how expensive glasses are (wear them myself) and it's tough to have to deal with the loss like that.

Good luck in finding them - hope you get a little luck on your side.

I dont know of any national taxi phone number unless you're thinking of the Taxi Regulator, which you could try.
I suppose your best bet would be to look up local taxis and ringing around. He might have handed it into the office or something.
It's a longshot but you could try like the local post office or police station, to see if he handed it in there.
You never know, he might be really nice and drop it back to your neighbour or even your house.

You could ask your neighbours that you were babysitting for to ring Eircom and ask if they would trace the number they rang, explaining the circumstances.
You other option is to contact the SPSV office in your area (your local Garda station will help you) to see if the taxi driver handed it in to the office. Not sure if there is a SPSV office in Mayo, but if there isn't the main Garda station covers these types of matters. Good luck.

She couldn't possibly know that many taxi numbers - Why can't you get the number of the ones she knows and ask them if they made a fare from her house to yours?
