On or before your 16th birthday you would have received your RSI number - the RSI number hasn't changed, they've just changed the name to PPS. If you need to replace the card or have it re-issued, you should contact the Department of Social & Family Affairs.

You will also need proof of address in Ireland. Utility bill or bank statement or a letter from the owner of the house and a utility bill in their name. They are sticklers and will make you come back if you don't have enough proof of identity.
Once you have all that it should be pretty easy to get.

I am born after 71 and was only issued a PPS no at 16, same with my sis and brother.

Anyhow,

There is an information desks at your local Social Welfare Office and they'll get it for you - or issue a new one which ever is the case.

As with every visit to Social Welfare Office bring your paperwork just in case - ie birthcert, passport, p45 etc..

The social Welfare office will be able to help. Bring all documentation saying that you are who you say you are and they should be able to send you a ppsn card thing.

I eagerly await your responses...am in a slightly similar situation....

I think if you have your birth cert, you can get in touch with the tax authorities or the social welfare department and ask them if they have it on file.
