The Air Force tend to be the more genteel of the armed forces, so no need to swear like a soldier or Marine.
You must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident.
Air Force is most selective of the services; depending on your reasoning, other services may be a better option. Army recently started a new program for legal visitors to the US (i.e. students, workers, exchange visitors etc), but for critical skills I think.
If flying is your dream, you must be a citizen. If you get citizenship, consider U.S. Marines aviation; less competition to get in. |

Hi, You would definitely need to be a Citizen so the first thing you'd need to do is apply for your green card and to do that you'd have to be able to prove you have something to off the US.
If you have a job offer or a relative who lives in the States it makes it easier (because you're proving your less likely to be a burden on the taxpayer).

If you want to apply to be an officer in the air force you must have a degree but it doesn't have to be a degree from the US only one that is recognised.
If you only want to enlist then you don't need a degree.

Good luck with your research but don't make your choices too narrow i'm guessing you're relatively young so you've plenty of time to decide what you want to do, I'm 25 next month and I still don't know what I want to do in the long term. My advise would be to keep your options as wide as possible. |

Just go. The U.S. military doesn't care who you are, as long as you're a body. |

As a foreign national you might have a chance at becoming a US citizen quickly via enlisted service. Check with the US Airforce website to see if this is possible. I know that it is available through the US Army. You would need to be a citizen though as you would be taking an oath to uphold the US constitution as all US military do.
There are military colleges in the US; the academic standards are very high at some. You can also take college courses while serving in the military - Under the GI Bill you get money to attend school either after your service or during service/on base. You can transfer credit to a university as you like after you finish your tour (length of service)
I would write a letter or email to the US Airforce recruitment office - they would have the best information. I would also post this question nder the military section on Yahoo answers as they will be able to answer this better than I can.
Not all service positions are combat. The US airforce is often used in aid missions, such as humanitarian aid sent from the US to Georgia while they were under attack from Russia last year. |
