How do the Irish Feel About Americans?

Moving to Ireland? I can apply for citizenship, my grandfather was a citizen. Do the Irish dislike us? Would it be a dangerous for an American retiree? I'm just trying to test the waters with Irish citizens. Thanks.
Additional Details
I'll have to post this question tomorrow. It's 3AM in Ireland and all the hardworking Irishmen are sleeping.

Hey ya americans are grand. Most of us think they are a bit loud lyk...
But no one would attack you, discrrimminate agaist you or anything just because your american! What kinda people do you think we are!

As long as you aren't looking for the Ireland in The Quiet Man, you'll be fine. And don't go on about the Northern Ireland thing, or about how bad 'the English' are.

I would suggest visitiing first.

And that's rot about non-Irish coming in - my husband is a foreign national and he's liked and respected.

Conor
I'm an Irish citizen as my father is from there. I plan to move there this summer. I would visit first. I was just there recently to visit family, and everyone was fine with it. As long as you have Irish roots, you're good to go. It's the non-Irish that are moving in that they seemed to be a bit sensitive about.

They like all Americans except the ones which payed for the IRA to commit their daily bombings against the Irish people in N. Ireland.

Blimey! Or is that England?
Hey, I just wanted to say I recognize the CAT logo. Yay! Go unions! I am familiar the CAT in Aurora IL. Where did you work?

Okay, in answer to your question. IDK - but since you are a retiree, I am sure they would welcome any surplus you bring to their country. Not like you will be competing for jobs and such. "Stimulate their economy". Go for it and God be with you. Life is too short not to live it to fullest.

Have nice night.

I'm not a citizen but I can understand the interest. They are on the ball on economic issues. They learned from us (before we got stupid)

i am sure you will be most welcome in ireland.after your country let so many of our people in when the left ireland due to the famineireland is dangerous no longer now that the problems in the north are over.i'm sure they irish people will be there to give you a big 'cead mille failte' (100 thousand welcomes) as we say in irish

Tid
100% Irish. And think the American's are fine, so of them a bit thick, but generally speaking they're a fine nation....(better than the english!)...oops!
