In Dublin, the churches leave pieces of Palm in a big box at the door of the church. After Mass the congregation bring pieces of the palm home, and in our house we would put it behind the picture of the Sacred Heart.
It would stay there till after Easter Sunday.
Also, the left over palms are then burnt by the church and the ashes are kept, to be used on Ash Wednesday the following year. |

From what I can remember, they would bring bits of evergreen trees into the church. |

In my church in Mayo we have palm at the church door, and all the rest happens as described by agooddub. During Palm Sunday Mass, the congregation takes part as the gospel is enacted. The priest speaks the words of Jesus, different parishioners speak the words of other named people in the gospel reading chosen, schoolchildren take up the part of the crowd, and there is a narrator reading all the bits in between, holding it together. It makes a lovely ceremony. |

It depends what religion you are really... Catholics do the palm leaves thing (That I know nothing about - Sorry) And Protestants just do normal Sunday service. |
