Em don't try to copy anything you hear on TV as no Irish accent I have heard on American TV has been right

Maybe talk to someone with an Irish accent or look up interviews on youtube with Irish singers or authors or whatever in them and just try to copy them

Lol! Just dont copy Tom Cruise in Far and Away or any of the actors or actresses in Circle of Friends or PS I Love you or any film made about Ireland with American actors in it. We never say 'top o the mornin' ....yuch! There are many different accents from strong in some parts to soft in others. I have never heard anyone successfully 'do' an Irish accent, no matter what voice coach they attended.

I'm from Northern Ireland and I can't even speak with a Southern Irish accent, which is a pity cos it's a lovely accent, while I'm stuck with a common as muck Belfast accent lol

My friends slag it both in Derry (for it being a Galway accent) and in Galway (for it being a Derry accent!!)

I have to agree with everyone....don't copy the actor's! I lived there in Cork for a while and you pick up somethings just from everyday life. I am moving back, believe me you have to hear it first hand...I heard many dialects, no different from how many we have here in the states; ie Virginian, Californian etc. My 14 yr old daughter tried to mimic the accent...and somehow she came out with a Scottish brogue accent, lol. Do the youtube video's from Ireland...not the fake American versions....from the actors...their hideous! And honey...they don't have lucky charms cereal there (as far as i know) its a gimmick for the cereal manufacturer's. Also keep in mind, while in Ireland...you have the accent, lol. Good Luck!

Hmmm, nowadays there is no typical Irish accent. There's D4 'loike omg, i'm, loike, studyin orts in TCD. Roish? I go in on the DORT or in my Beamer every day. LOL' (like, oh my god, I'm like, studying arts in Trinity College Dublin. Right? I go in on the DART (train) or in my BMW every day.)

ok i would suggest go there and live there for a while i did that and up until about a year ago i could slip into an irish accent now i still can but its harder unless i talk to some irish friends then i can do it again but you would have to go there or see a dialect coach i think.

you have to soften your vowels
"a" sounds like "e" and "e" sounds lie "a" sometimes

Eg an irish person would pronunce Film as Filum.
words should be as short as possible we dont over exagerate word sounds.

You would actually be more likley to insult an irish person by saying Top of the morning to you" no real irish person says that phrase, these are racial sterotypes from when the irish arrived in the USA and have stuck.

Sure now; see a dialect coach, or spend a LOT of time with recent Irish immigrants. I can slip into a brogue easily, especially when I've been hanging out with my Irish-born grandmother or great-aunts. When they're not around, it seems a bit harder tho. Good (Eireesh) luck to yeh!

No, People say I have a foreign language, I don't know why. I think it's because I am fluent in 7 other languages and that might have affected it but it has also been like that! Weird, I know!
