How easy is it to find a job at a bar/pub in Ireland?

Its not impossible. It depends on when your looking. It can be tough around september because alot of students aer looking for jobs then, but you'll get something eventually.

You'll earn minimum wage (â‚¬8.65 an hour) which you can live on as long as your sharing a house with other people to bring down your rent costs.

Also if your from America and you have no way of claimgin Irish citizenship you wont be allowed get a minimum wage job.

If you cant haev citizenship then you need a work permit and minimum wage jobs are excluded. You ahev to get the job before you apply for the permit an dit must pay more than 30,000 a year. There a list of ineligible jobs here

If you are eligible for citizenship then all you have to do it apply for a PPS number when you get here and go job hunting.

at the moment we have a lot of people becoming unemployed on a daily basis,due to a slow down in our economy and construction industry,which in turn is affecting the follow on jobs such as manufacturing and so on.as th bar trade is usually not a high skilled profession(no offense to anybody) a lot of people without skills will turn to this type of industry for work...but these jobs which are available can usualy be found in local papers signs in bar/restraunt windows and with agencys.i would recommend having about 3-5 thousand euros in your pocket/bank and pop over and just begin the search in the major cities first,dublin,galway,cork,waterford......... some of the big towns,wexford,killkeny and so on.
salary is quite,"ok" in ireland,but lodgings alone on these wages wont leave lot of money in your pocket.
i left waterford recently,as the city seemd to loose its steam over the past few years,so cork and galway would be your better option.
BUT!!!!!
be quick,school holidays are between start of june until start of september,so a lot of people available for cheap labour.

well i have been to galway and cork many times, to be honest most places there are full ..... here in kilkenny 6 new pubs and 3 new restraunts and 2 more coming some have people but im sure their looking for more staff ..
dublin is kinda the capital in sometimes can be a bit rough but im sure theres pubs nd places there
waterford is a lovely place and theres plenty of restaurants that have just opened

there a pubs everywhere! you cant just move thou...you gotta do abunch of paperwork..

I really don't think you'd be able alone..on that salary you would need to find a flatmate (room mate)
you should save up about 5k before moving..(maybe more)
Galway/Cork yes those are good places.
Dublin is to expensive..good luck...

It is easy, getting a job in a pub is soo informal! you can just walk in, usually even without a CV(Resume) and say "hey any chance of a job?" or something like that, and there you go, you have your job!
