Cork is smaller, friendlier and not nearly so far up its own backside. The nightlife is great, and the people the salt of the earth.

10 points to Orla, she hit the nail on the head.

Cork is not too intimidating. Small and quiet personal. There is enough diversity to not get bored but just enough as to not intimidate like Dublin. Cork is cheaper, accommodation wise and rental prices are at an all time low of late. People are warm and friendly and always up for a chat.

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

Orla summed it up perfectly.

I think Orla is exactly right too but one other great advantage of Cork is that you are so close to many out of city activities and interesting places.
Traffic moves well and you kan be by the sea in Kinsale in 20 minutes, sailing or whatever takes your fancy. There are so many good towns around its really great

Living in Cork - You would be living in the true capital of Ireland (The people's republic of Cork!)

Living in Dublin is living with a load of Cork wannabes!

People from Cork tend to have a strong dislike or even hatred of Dublin. Why? I just don't know. It's probably jealousy though - Dublin is 5-6 times the size of Cork, and there are 5-6 times more things to do.

Time and time again I have seen Orla C answering questions related to Ireland and bringing down Dublin. People from Dublin (such as myself) don't feel the need to slag off Cork so why do they do it to us?

If you ask a question about Dublin on here you will be swamped with answers by Corkonians who hate Dublin, and they'll say bad things about it.

Also, someone said Dublin is "up its own hole". Cork is much more up its own hole than Dublin is. People from Cork come out with rubbish like "I'm proud to be from Cork" and "Up Cork" all the time. They're pretty arrogant about where they live, which suggests Cork is mkore up its own hole than Dublin.
