How is life different in Ireland than in the USA?

I am a college student doing a paper on how life in Ireland is different from life in the USA. Does anyone have any input?

Ireland maintains a neutral position in any wars going on around the world, something that is quite different to America. Dublin is nearly the same as any other major city, just a bit smaller, but once you get outside of Dublin, the people are so laid back, they're practically horizantal. They dont rush around, they take their time, always have time for a chat, they are so friendly, the landscape is pretty unusual, your not seen as an alcoholic if you go to the pub every night, the pub is the community meeting place, and most of us really do only go for one pint and a chat, it's where everyone meets up. We are only after becoming a multicultural society, I went to England when I was 14 (I'm 21 now) and i couldn't believe the amount of foreign people I was seeing. It's a total different story now.The main religion in the Republic is Roman Catholic. Our last two presidents have been women. There's nothing we love more then meeting up with a big gang of friends and family and just having the craic. I think we are a very musical nation, who's proud of our heritage. The cost of living has become very expensive here, and it's hard for young epople to buy their first home. Our health service isnt the greatest, it's something the Government need to work on. Contrary to popular belief, the republic and the North are not fighting each other every time we get a chance, that part of history is almost over, and nearly all Catholics and Protestants want to live peacefully side by side. I think that's it, anything else just email me.

life in ireland ...its much friendlier than america ive been to new york and l.a people arent very friendly. america goes at a much faster pace than ireland.people rushing everywhere.america is a great place but not A place i would like to live we irish have alot more time for people chats in ireland people always nod and say hello even if we dont know them.our beer is stronger in alcohol even budweiser im not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing. you can get want you want when you want in the states the shops, gyms.restaurants semm to be open all day and night where as here we,ve till wait till 9 good points and bad points in both countries our governments are both corrupt but thats probably true in every country

There is not much diversity in the landscape and weather its almost all green!and quite cold and wet!Its not as big..There is not any pageants and cheer leading camps or any really big competitions for anything. In Secondary School(high school) there is less students-smaller schools!Dublin is quite cosmopolitan. It costs more in Ireland for most things-very expensive!Everybody slags(makes fun) of each other that's just Irish sense of humour. You only have to be 18 to drink! In Ireland we get a broader outlook on the world and what is happening-no censorship...also it is only in the last 5 to 10 years that a large influx of foreigners and some refugees have come to live here.

well main difference i can think of is the fact that American teenagers seem to grow up quicker. not saying that all Irish teenagers are naive , they just grow up differently . plus most Irish people curse a bit more than Colin Farrel would on a bad day. and the country isn't that religious anymore . its mainly just older people filling the churches. also from my experience Ireland isn't that family orientated anymore . people are more interested in making money now a days

You can get around in Ireland by train, and fast. You can get bangers in Ireland anywhere you want. You can speak with a brogue in Ireland and no one will think you exotic.

Politics very different, language also - include variations in English. Life in USA very family orientated. Censored news in USA people have no clue whats really happening only what government wants them to know. Can use 9/11 as example

In relation to getting around Ireland 'by train and fast' - thats untrue! The whole of the country isnt covered by irish rail, leaving out many counties - you can get numerous connecting trains but it takes forever and adds hours onto your journey! Its also really expensive, from a cost point your better off going by bus - takes longer but covers more locations and its cheaper!

Ireland is a small, is not so crowded, there is not many people have a cars, food is different, there is all the pubs where people sitting and drinking, very religious people. Search the web.
