alpha
According to Fáilte Ireland's Tourism Business & Employment Survey carried out between 2004 and 2006 there were 9,386 Public Houses -
"The number of licensed premises/public houses is an estimate based on the number of active pub licences, figures provided by the Revenue Commissioners".

And 1,600 in Northern Ireland

That girls an indie cindy.

Thats a tough one! I would say the 17,000 number isn't far off but then again even though a lot of country pubs are closing a lot of city bars are opening.

clara
thousands!!!

hi you
the only way i know to answer this one lots

Knownow't
In 1997 there were 1,643 pubs in Northern Ireland...so at a guess I would say there were at least ten times that in Eire so I would say 17,000....but is it a guess.
