You could drive to Cherbourg (about 9 hours but you could stopover in Paris) and take the ferry to Rosslare (about 18 hours overnight) and drive to Dublin (about 3 hours) for €230 now or €99 from September - see the link.
You could also go via Dover, Newhaven or Portsmouth and then Holyhead to Dublin but this means much more driving and 2 ferry fares and no overnight rest. |

Loking at google maps it looks like its around the 1330 km mark (820-830 miles).
Its a fairly easy route - diagonally up from Frankfurt to Calais, then Channel tunnel/ ferry to Dover and up via M25, M1,M6 to Holyhead and then ferry across to Dublin.
Petrol-wise that is going to cost you around £80-90 but the total cost is going to be much more as you would have to add in the cost of the channel tunnel/ ferry at Calais and the cost of the ferry from Hollyhead to Dublin. Time-wise its going to take you at least two days solid driving, if you go at a more leisurely rate it will take three or more.
I wouldnt think it was worth catching the ferry from France to Dublin as you would have to travel across France to somewhere like Cherbourg to get it. |
