How reliable is Airlink and Dublin trains?

I am doing a day trip to Co.Kildare to and from Stansted, can anyone tell me how efficient/reliable Airlink Dublin Airport to Heuston Station and the train Heuston to Co.Kildare are?
I only have 1 choice of train and bus connection on my return to catch the flight. Is there a chance I could miss the flight? (17:30 from Co.Kildare on a sunday night traffic to catch a 21:15 flight) Thanks

I used to live in ireland and onlyused the trains a couple of times. As far as i know their are reliable they just don't run very frequently, so make sure you get to the station on time. Have a nice trip

You'll be fine. Its only 1 hour from Kildare to Heuston & the airlink bus is right outside the door of the station.
Its around 35-40 mins to the airport from there.
Dublin airport is fairly fast moving as well.

Kildare is wonderful, have fun & enjoy your weekend!

Airlink bus is very reliable. They should run every 15 minutes but sometimes they are more frequent. The train does run to the published timetable too. If you know what time you are getting it at then you should be fine. Check the website www.irishrail.ie to check there are no delays, work going on the track etc holding up trains. Good luck.

the traffic is not too bad on a sunday night, unless there is a concert in the point depot....but the airlink is good as are the trains. They are not frequent , but good

You will have no problems. The service is very efficient and reliable and the following Monday after the trip you'll be full of praise for the service. Good luck and enjoy your trip to Ireland.

Yes the trains are reasonably reliable and the Airlink is very reliable. You will enjoy your daytrip and will want to return to Ireland. I have done 10,000 miles around this beautiful country and very rarely ran into transport problems.
