Ignore the first, retarded answer. Dublin is pretty much as safe as other capital cities around Europe. Just take the usual precautions.

Be aware of your surroundings and be security minded in any city you're visiting, not just Dublin. Don't get drunk and don't accept rides from strangers (an American exchange student accepted a ride from a stranger in Lisbon, Portugal and ended up being driven to an isolated place and raped; she tried to sue the university but I don't know what happened after that). When filling out a room service order, just use your initials on the menu that you hang on the door. If you want to use your name, just use your last name and first & middle initials. Using just your firsts initial can hint to ppl that you are a woman. BTW, I'd give you the above suggestions if you were visiting any US city so no, I am not against Dublin.

i went to dublin last year, there is lots going on everywhere. I was not on my own but it was just me and another female friend and i must say i never felt scared even when i went shopping on my own cos my friend did not want to come!! i would say tho make sure you stay in the centre cos although there is a good transport link some of the surrounding areas are not very nice especially if you plan on going out and about in the evening.

Dublin is a safe place but like every where else there are bad people.
You just need to be watchful and use you judgement this has done me well all over the planet.

I was just in Dublin last week, and yes, it is very safe. My twin and I, (we're very young) walked around alone for the entire day. Nothing happened, nobody bothered us, we just got to enjoy our time there. Like any city, it can be dangerous only if you do things that are unwise and inappropriate, but if you don't put yourself in that situation, in Dublin, it's very unlike that anything's going to happen to you. Dublin's an amazing city, by the way. Lots of things to see there, and some amazing parks.

It's the same as going to any city you don't know on your own, Dublin can be great fun and is safe in certain areas but it can also be very dangerous. It's relatively safe during the day, just watch out for pickpockets, but i would not advise you wander round town late at night by yourself, I often go on nights out in Dublin and i know what it can be like. If you plan on going on a few nights out you are better off trying to get someone to travel with you if not then just keep your wits about you.

I spent a couple days in Dublin alone.

It's a small city. You can't get lost. The buses are frequent and stop everywhere. Let me re emphasize that the city is SMALL. Yes there are petty thiefs but they like to do things like smash in windows on cars and steal radios and windsheild wipers for some reason. They are a bizarred breed.

Yes, it's safe and clean. Temple Bar gets packed. It's cold and clammy and wet, which I love! I envy you, I can't wait to go back to Ireland!!

They are very superstitious people. So superstitious, it'll make you laugh but don't laugh in their face. They are overly friendly, boisterous affectionate, will buy you beers till you're blue. They love John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln and have a curiosity about american indians.

The males are pretty sexy, dark hair ligh eyes. The bartenders suck. Couldn't get a decent martini while I was there.

Dublin airport is small but a nightmare. If you can manage, trade your dollars for euros down on o'connell street, you'll get a way better rate then at the airport. It's really really expensive, lose almost 50 cents of every dollar. In other words, pay and addition 50 cents for every single euro, not to mention the fees on top of that.

its just as safe as anywere else, you'll be fine during the day, but take a little extra precaution at night time, dont wander any streets you dont no well, dont speak to anybody who makes you feel uncomfortable, and make sure you stay in places were theres lots of people!
be careful like you would be in london or new york or any other city, theres bad eggs everywere

How long is a piece of string. Keep your wits about you and just because you are a a tourist, don't go around advertising it. Safe enough to walk about during daylight but not at night on your own.

ye just watch out for the crack heads they are every where i live in town (dublin city)
its a safe enough place just watch out for clubs and pubs cos there are loads of fights at night(i always see them any way )

every 1 is pretty much friendly ....do the same safty things u would do where u live

nothin has ever happen to me (pickpocketed) just watch out for the usual scumbags

Dublin is a very safe, there is a few parts on the north and south side where if you say your a protesant or british you might run into some problems. But YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR PICKPOCKETERS, its HORRIBLE there and they are pros, in fact they have been considered the best on earth. Especially at bars or anywhere scenic where people take pics. I had my passport stolen and my wallet twice at the pubs
Thing to do would be drink and shop. and avoid getting hit by cars becasue traffic is horrible. The best way to describe dublin is that its a city that doesnt know what the hell to do with itself.
Everything is 12 euro too.

I live in Dublin, just don't go too far North at night and you'll be fine. Its safer than most cities and I've never had any trouble.

The Questioner
Ignore Jeff K everything he has written is total rubbish. Dublin is safe, however, you have to be careful, as you would in any city or country. You will find many places to see and things to do, get plenty of information from the tourist office, and listen to any advise given. Enjoy yourself.

dublin is safe im from the north side wich isnt as rough as people say!! just dont say out at night to late cos it gets scary but other than that its ok there is loads to do and loads of great pubs and stufrf:) oh and we dont drink all the time and fall around the streets like people think were normal people like the rest of the world!!

Hey Spirit, some of the answers are valid points others, well just plain silly.. Always remember there are good and bad everywhere but in general Irish people are, friendly, courteous, a happy go lucky shower!. I suggest if you are staying in Dublin for a few days, just be yourself. Whether your British, American or of any race or creed, the Irish are a welcoming race. Enjoy your stay. Cead mhile failte romhat \_/ Slainte..

Haha, but seriously, Ireland can be a dangerous place when there drunk (23 hours a day) (1 hour getting drunk) Take pepper spray, a weapon, and stay in at night.
