How to get from Dublin Airport to City centre? |
I am travelling with Ryan Air and need to get to Grafton Street. Is it best to go by taxi or is there a bus service? How much will it cost. Does anyone know of a nice, clean hotel (3/4 star). We stayed at The Grafton years ago but I remember it was very noisy. Thanks! |

I got a taxi it cost me €42 so allow yourself to pay anythin upto this for taxi
would recommend bus
Check out Campden court hotel 3 star hotel rooms start from €99
The conrad is a nice 5 star hotel with rooms from around €200
Both are 2 mins walk to grafton st and would be in quieter areas |

There are 3 ways to get into the city.
Taxi will cost about €30
Airport Coach leaves outside arrivals and goes non stop into the city for about €10
The normal Dublin double decker bus goes every 20 minutes and stops along the way to pick up regular passengers, takes about 50 minutes and costs €2.
Someone told me that there is a new double decker service from Dublin Bus that goes non stop into the city for €4, but I personally haven't seen it yet.
Check out Jury's Inn on the web for hotel, which has a room only rate and is quite reasonable. |

Any hotel around grafton street is going to be relatively noisey as there are plenty of clubs and hotels in this area. Try the Powerscourt hotel or try hotels in ballsbridge or Donneybrook - both are relatively close to grafton street and you will get a good nights sleep.
From the airport the airport the coach service from there to the city centre is the best - it is less costly than a taxi and will get you there in the same time. |

we had this same question not that long ago, theres a bus that runs into the city centre from the airport!
The 46x goes to o connell street from the airport so does the 747
check on this http://www.dublinbus.ie, it wont cost alot at all!! but make sure you have some coins handy, cause buses over here dont give change!
The buses run straight from arrivals too..
Hope this helps
thug angle-----There isnt a train station near the airport.....not yet any way give it a few years!!! |

The best way is the airport coach.
Forget about cheap hotel accommodation in Dublin city centre, it doesn't exist. |

Travelling to the city:
a) Taxi would be expensive, costing anything between 20-30euro from the airport to city centre
b) Aircoach : usually blue in colour, operated by private operator, which you can get just outside of the arrival hall. One way ticket is 7euro, return 12euro, per person.
c) Airlink : operated by Dublin Bus, look for number 747 (not 748) and even then it only goes to O'Connell St then Busaras, so nowhere near Grafton St I'm afraid. Ticket costs 6euro per person. A cheaper way around this is to go to Dublin Bus counter inside the airport just by the arrival hall and ask for 5 days rambler smartcard. This cost 18.50euro for 5 days of non-consecutive travel, making it 3.70euro per day. This ticket can be used on Airlink. So if you have 2-3 people travelling at the same time, just use one ticket per person. It's a pretty good value that way.
d) Dublin bus : there are normal Dublin buses that goes to the city centre - 746 and 16A - and the adult fare should be 2euro per person. Note though, these are regular buses, so there would be a lot of stopping around housing estates etc, which may make things a tad confusing. You can ask the bus driver to tell you when you're at the stop closest to Grafton St. They're usually very nice and helpful.
Accommodation:
Check out Jury's Inn (not Jury's Doyle, which would be much more expensive and not in the city centre) or O'Callaghan Hotels (they're clustered near the back of Trinity College). I just had a look quickly and Jury's Inn seem to be running promotion at the moment where price starts at 59euro, subject to availability. |

train, check if there is a train station near the airport, not 100% if there is or not but if there is it will take ya to the city centre |
