I was there only 5 days. So I know it's a great place to visit. Dublin will keep you busy with many things cities usually offer. There are many tours available that starts from Dublin. From historical walking tours to half to a full day bus tours and etc.. I would take full advantage of those tours since they're not expensive at all( compared to similar tours in Britain and France). |

I work over in Ireland, covering the whole of the country, and my favourite places are Killarney and Galway. Also if you're down near Cork, go to Kinsale as it's lovely as is Cobh. |

Anywhere but get away from Dublin after a couple of days max.- Its just like a quieter London with Irish accents. Go to the west of Ireland see the real place not just another boring City. |

I have only been to Dublin, I went to Trinity college and saw the book of Kells, which was a dream come true.
I didn't have the chance but I would of loved to have visited New Grange. As far as i'm aware until the turn of the century before last the guy who owned the land thought it was ahill, then some one fell through the entrance. Its older than Stonehenge and was built to coicide with the Winter Solstice, I think it was built 4000 BC.
The Irish have a rich history of myth and legend, and many beautiful historic sites. I really hope I get the chance to visit again. |

God's little piece of Heaven on Earth. I'd recommend Dublin, Drogheda (good stepping-off point for Newgrange). There's plenty more, but those 2 are easily a day each, probably more. |

Dublin has so much to see and do - during the dat there's the Guinness brewery, jail, trinity college and so much more and in the evening hit the pubs in temple Bar for some great traditional music . i found dublinners incredibly welcoming. If you don't fancy the city head down to Cork and kerry for some great walking and scenery. |

I've been to Ireland a few times and have never seen anything more beautiful than the west coast. We flew into Galway and spent a night in the city centre, shopping, drinking, exploring. There are a lot of old pubs and shops on the high street. The next day we took a cab up towards Connemara and stayed in a hotel with ocean views. It was a miracle that we got a room, luckily there was a last minute cancellation. Not being from Ireland we didn't realise it was the weekend of the Galway horse races, a huge event that filled the town.
The next day we rented a car and headed south towards the Cliffs of Moher. I've never seen anything so amazing in my life, it's truly breathtaking. It's a must see in this lifetime! We also stopped along the way at Ailewee Cave and did a tour of the cave. Could have passed on that but it is a nice break from the car.
Renting a car and driving through the country is a must-do though you will feel as if you're a danger to society. Careful of short cement walls when backing up your car and hopefully you're car hire will have plastic bumpers... ;-) There are a million B&Bs scattered through the countryside, but best to book ahead.
Dublin is also a great little city, it's got history, pubs, castles and more. I reccommend a visit there, but if you're looking for beauty go to the west coast. The landscape is gorgeous, green with rolling hills, brightly painted houses, little villages, and many sheep, cows roaming around. You will not be dissapointed! |

Athenry,Co Galway on the rail line from Dublin to Galway. It is the last stop before Galway, ONE and a half hours from Shannon Airport. It is almost completely surrounded by 15 foot town walls dating back to the middle ages, also from that time is the Abbey, the castle, the Arch which was part of the town walls, famous battles were fought there ,8000 men died there in battle on the grounds of the Dominican convent. As an 11 year old in 1974 I approached the town from the cemetry accopmanied by mum and dad aswell as my brother and saw these town walls and thought this is the biggest playground Ive ever seen and it was .We bought the house and moved in as soon as possible. The only problem is that the fields that are mentioned in"THE FIELDS OF ATHENRY" are no more as some greedy people who owned them have built houses everywhere thereby ruining what was once very beutiful, now you just have to screen out the rubbish architecture to visualise what once was my free and easy ,magical playground,Enjoy,David Walls p.s.Type Etienne Rynne into yahoo and you will get an athoritative history of Athenry. He is big headed but I love him to bits |
