I am going to Ireland for a vacation. What are some good traditional pubs there?

In Dublin city centre the Cobblestones, in Smithfield has traditional Irish music, as does the Merchant on the Quays

Please give more details to which part of Ireland you plan to visit to get answers that will be more specific to your needs.

Hi Rebekah,

I think you may have to be a little more specific than that, Do you have any idea how many pubs are in Ireland.

What city/town region will you be visiting?

You might want to be more specific. If you are staying near Dublin, I advise you to go up the Wicklow Mountains to Johnny Fox's, the highest pub in Ireland.

Outside of the cities. But good luck finding places that do music, it's tough to run a pub in rural Ireland nowadays.

If you are on "vacation" I take it you are from North America and if so, possible arriving or departing at shannon Airport?
If so, visit Durty Nellie's right by Bunratty Castle in Co Clare.

Peyton
Not Temple Bar... but it's fun to visit!

I ♥ Marcus Flutie
Try Dublin's Temple Bar, or - the oldest pub in Ireland - Dirty Nellies. (I can't remember what county. I think it's right next to Bunratty castle, in which case it's in Co. Clare.

I also recall my friends saying they ran into a really interesting pub that was constructed from what used to be a small church in Dublin, so maybe see if you could find that one. They said it was a blast!

I visited the "Brazen Head" in Dublin, which allegedly is the oldest pub in Dublin. Drinks were good and so was the food. Loved the atmosphere as well.

Dear Ireland visitor. You really have to make up your mind. In Dublin only are at least 600 pubs. As for traditional pub ... in Ireland? you must be joking. the pub culture comes from Ireland so all pubs are traditional. it's about how old or what kind of pub, for young, old, sport, drink only, eat. If you're in Dublin.... The Brazen Head the oldest 1198 if i remember well, then O'Neill's, Temple bar area - for young people. If in Galway - King's Head or any Pub on Shop street, If you go to Cork ... then ... you'd better leave. If you go to Belfast... after 9 o'clock there's no one on the street but Crown Bar is great, across Europa hotel.
good luck.
