I am going to Ireland in the end of September. How is the weather then? Should we rent a car?

Or us public transportation? We are thinking of going to the west coast too but we only have a week there. What are the things in Ireland that we can't miss??

Since I am Irish i can tell you that september is a nice time of the year but sometimes,as with any day of the year we can get all 4 seasons in one day.You will have just missed August, which is a beutiful time of the year with temprature sometimes reaching between 20-30 celcius (t-shirt weather as it is known here) and this weather can sometimes continue into september. However it is impossible to tell.Sure, even when you watch the forecast on our national tv station they rarely say it will be sunny or it will be rainy. They say there will be sun and showers and wind all in the one day so you can never be certain. As far as renting a car goes rent any where except Dublin.Traffic can get as slow as walking pace in the city.Use our buses and tram system(Luas-Irish word for Speed). The only downside to our country though is our high cost of living due to rapid economic growth in the past 10 years. So bring lots of money.Other than that Failte Go hEirrean (welcome to Ireland in our native language, which by the way is rarely spoken daily. It is written on our roadsigns, spoken on tv etc but is only spoken daily in certain parts of the country.)WELCOME!

Public transport?! You must be having a laugh! Sher we wouldn't put Martin Cullen or Noel Dempsey in charge of a tea party!

The weather is usually shyte in September, the same as it is all year round................

september often has very decent weather. But always be ready for rain...
You might consider hiring a car out west. It would be madness in Dublin. Traffic is bad, parking worse.Stick to public transport or taxis.

Hi Meghan!

September is usually nice in Ireland - by nice I mean mild/sunny. We are prone to the odd shower however!

If you're intending to tour the west coast then you should definately hire a car - it really is the only way to explore rural Ireland, as it allows you get off the beaten track and discover hidden gems and quaint little villages!

Here are some top attractions that you consider when touring the west of Ireland; the Ring of Kerry, Killarney, Skellig Islands, Inch Beach, Dingle Peninsula, Fungi (resident dolphin in Dingle Bay!), Slea Head (all in County Kerry), Bunratty Castle, Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher, The Burren, Alliwee Caves (in County Clare) and Galway city, Connemara, Clifden and the Aran Islands in County Galway.
