I am going to live in Ireland from Saturday. Do they like bus drivers there?

Hello Driver,
Yes of course we do, we can't wait for the bus to turn up, if only to get us out of all this liquid sunshine, and to see a cheerful smiling face at the wheel, is a great bonus to us all, and we are not all rowdy boozers t are hell-bent on giving you a hard time, we don't want putting off the bus, you might set us down in a puddle, so yes, come on and meet us, well meet the rest of us, I am Irish and go home 2 or 3 times a year, County Galway, a great plzace for Bus Drivers to live, I am not too sure if you would like Dublin..everything and everyone is a lot gentler in the west of Ireland, try us, you're sure to like us..Bye for Now, and Good Luck...a Retired HGV Driver, who never had a problem all over Ireland really...Tony M

My mum was in ireland in the 70`s during the para military times and was in a bomb explosion , on a bus.

But that was during the old days so no need to worrys and yes , the irish are very kind so they will take to you.

Christine
we love bus drivers here, and always say 'howya' when getting on the bus and 'thanks' when getting off!!

Will you be driving buses here?

i have lived in Ireland all my life, and the old sayings about Irish people being very friendly are true lol. the majority of people here dont judge you by your job.

if your going to Dublin or Belfast people just want to get to their destination. but if your somewhere less busy/more rural you will find people like to sit and talk to bus drivers (even though they technically arent meant to) because they are so friendly!

there shouldnt be anymore problems than anywhere else, although its true at night time theres more trouble than daytime.

oh this might come in useful, i dont know if you say this, but Irish people say "what's the craic?" (wdc) this is kinda like saying "what's up?" that kinda idea

hope this helps and welcome to Ireland! (when you arrive)

good luck :)

I think they prefer electrical conductors.

They mostly like Bus Drivers during the Day, at Night time sometimes there is a problem. In a certain part of Tallaght a Town 11 Miles from Dublin City Drivers have been Picked on, and there Buses have been Stoned and they have been Beaten up.Sometimes because of trouble the Bus only goes as far as the Square after 8 in Evening and no further. There has been trouble in the past in other Parts of Dublin like Ballyfermot and Finglas but now these areas have calmed down and are quiet for Years now. All the other areas in the City are all right. Limerick can have trouble as well, IT has acquired the unsavoury nickname of Stab City because of the Gang Warfare, and Shootings by certain Families involved in Drugs Turf Wars, however they leave the Busworkers alone unless you are in the way. I havent heard anything about Cork they seem to be very nice down there.
I know I paint a dismal Picture about the Country but it is not really that bad,It is actually very nice place to live ,very friendly. But like anywhere in the World it does have a few instances of trouble every now and then. After awhile you begin to get a bit of Street Credibility and can sniff out trouble when it is going to start. It is the same with any new Country or Town ,you have to feel the Vibe. Good Luck in Ireland.

Dr
Erm.. I think so? Why'd you ask?

you said you were a bus driver in amsterdam, no you changed that, you said you were a bus driver in Ireland. Now you are just announcing that you are going to live in Ireland. You are a horses' potoot and lack any further credibility, thus, i will answer now more questions points or no.
