I am having a horse transported across from Ireland. How soon after his arrival can i ride him?

He is arriving in the morning and i was hoping to go for a gentle hack in the afternoon. is this ok, or would you recommend a longer rest period. He is coming over from Ireland, then has a three hour journey from Holyhead to my home.

i would wait until he a had bit of wee nap. the when he cass his eyes on green field of Ireland. he'll be a bonnie lass. top the morn-in i say.

I would give him a bit more of a rest. he doesn't need to be quarantined I presume. Just visit him at the stable, but leave it til next day to go riding.

tea & crumpets anyone?

Zelda
He'll let you know when he's ready. You should be able to tell from his actions whether he is going to be "in to" going for a ride or not.

Let him unpack his bags first,
give him a cup of tea -then you should be okay

Ooh I didn't realise we were in the presence of such wealthy folk. I reckon you should let him rest for at least the evening, just to be safe. Long journeys are tiring on people, so I imagine that the horse might be a bit shook up because he doesn't understand whats happening.

Good luck with your new horse.
