Get the Airlink bus to O'Connell Street; hop out on O'Connell Street and see the famous GPO and the Spire and see the statue of James Joyce on North Earl Street (opposite the Spire); there's also an art display on O'Connell St at the moment called Light People by Julian Opie; Go across O'Connell St Bridge (unique in that it's wider than it is long!), from here you can see the Ha'Penny Bridge; head down Westmoreland Street and past the Molly Malone Statue; go up Grafton Street for some shopping; at the top of Grafton Street you can cross the road into St Stephen's Green, a scenic spot in a bustling city; head back down Grafton Street, taking a left at the Westbury Hotel where you'll come face to face with a bronze statue of Phil Lynnott! Here you can cut through the Westbury Shopping Mall and head into the George's Street Arcade area - here you'll find some unique shops and eateries including my personal favourite the Market Bar www.marketbar.ie :); head down George's Street and into the (in)famous Temple Bar area which is very popular with tourists and has loads of "traditional" Irish pubs to choose from. It's expensive so be warned! The famous Irish Film Institute is located in Temple Bar and has a great little restaurant and bar; Walk through the Temple Bar arch, back onto the Ha'Penny Bridge, cross the Liffey and head up Liffey Street and onto Mary/Henry Street which is about to go under major renovations. Take in a last few sights before hopping on the Air Coach back to the airport!
Places to eat in Dublin that I would recommend are:
www.themarketbar.ie (George's St area)
www.ifi.ie (Temple Bar area)
www.talbot101.ie (located off O'Connell St)
Places to drink...
www.thefoggydew.ie (Temple Bar area)
Bruxelles Pub (Phil Lynnott statue outside it, just off Grafton St)
www.dakotabar.ie (behind Westbury Mall/George's St area) |

Weather permitting, take the DART around Dublin Bay, from Howth to Bray. Get out at Dun Laoghaire and walk down the pier, the views of Dublin Bar are fantastic - but weather permitting. |
