No, it needs to be a full licence. However you may have some other proof of ID which will be accepted, check with the airline or imigration authorities.

How many times is this question asked, and answered, on this site.
The UK and the Republic of Ireland have a recipricol passport agreement which means that citizens of either country can travel to the other without the need for a passport.
Some airlines, however, insist that you have a valid passport. Check with your airline.
Also note that a Provisional Driving Licence and a Driving Licence are two different things. Again check with your airline to see if a Provosional Driving Licence is acceptable to them. |

Yeah, it seems that you can, even though ROI is ostensibly a foreign country apparently many UK based airlines and shipping companies only ask for photographic ID to travel there.
Excuse me all other answerers but a BRitish Provisional Licence has got a photo on it!!!! |

just fly to belfast and take a train to dublin save u trouble or contact ur airline and ask them ryanair gives a list of acceptible forms of id heres wat they say
All passengers must present valid photo identification at check-in for all flights.The only acceptable forms of photo-ID on Ryanair flights are:

You DONT need a passport to travel to Ireland from the UK. HOWEVER, some airlines require a passport to validate tickets. I have travelled from Dublin to London with a provisional licence before with Ryanair but I think Ryanair now require a passport.
In other words check with your airline. |

NO but you could probably travel on a valid airline ticket.
You will need proof of identity though, Birth certificate, Photo ID from work or even your expired passport.

you do need a passport to fly to Ireland from England Scotland or wales sorry guys you are all wrong even one of our politicians got caught a while back they were not allowed on the plane flying to Manchester he was it made the news and all sail over less hassle |
