I can't drink beer. Will the Irish (in Ireland) get offended if i refuse it?

I have a condition where i cannot drink anything carbonated, even a little bit. I really want to go to Ireland, but will it be taken the wrong way if i refuse a beer? I have no problems drinking hard liquor, or anything non-carbonated (love whiskey!), but I cannot stomach beer, and really don't want to have to explain that to everyone. Would they take it the wrong way there?
Additional Details
I saw in someone else's question that she was afraid people would get offended if she turned down a drink. I know Russians would normally get offended if you turned down a shot in a social setting, but i'm not sure if it's like that in Ireland.

Don't worry 'bout a ting, no one will think any lesser of you if you do not drink beer. Most people seem to like whiskey or vodka drinks anyway, so it truly does not matter. The main 'beer' here is Guinness, I don't know for sure about the carbonation factor but it does not seem too carbonated, it's not really like beer... it's called 'stout' and it is dark and black and... mmm. Definitely a different type of beer altogether.

There is plenty of Whiskey here, some good ones to try are:

Jameson
Paddy
Powers

I think you may be worried over nothing. In fact, you might be bordering a bit on stereotyping--assuming all Irish are drinkers. While I'm sure that many enjoy a pint or two of Guinness, I'm also sure not everyone does.

I'm certain that if you're in a social situation involving beer, you ought to be able to politely decline it--and perhaps request a Jameson's, neat!

I would assume that in a pub they don't "offer" you anything. You order what you want and they pour it for you.

Just don't make a habit of ordering water or something. Pubs want to sell booze.

They are'nt all alcoholics in Ireland.Nobody will even notice what you drink let alone be offended.

ralph
just say no but I will have a wiskey on the rocks

It really depends on which pub you go to and what they are doing.
As they say, when in Rome do as the Romans do.

naptowngirl4life
no they wont get offended

You can also try bulmers... thats hard cider and its not as strong as whiskey. Its very popular in the pubs.

Most definately not. Anyways why don't you just stick with some Irish whiskey? You may even pleasantly suprise someone if you say you'd prefer a Jameson or Bushmills
