no you wont need a passport if going from the UK but if you are flying you will need some sort of photo I D something like a driving licence or any Official photo I D will do this is just for the airline for security reasons

slipstreamer
Maybe. Where are you from and what is your mode of transport?

froggequene
It depends on where you're from to the REPUBLIC of Ireland

If you're coming anywhere except the UK you will need a passport.

If you are a British citizen travelling from the UK, and this only applies to Irish & British citizens, you need only provide valid photo ID such as a driver's licence. If you're flying check with the airline what they will accept, most will accept a photo driver's licence or passport, even ferry companies recommend you carry a passport or driver's licence, if you only have student ID you need to check that they will accept it.

If you are resident in the UK but not a British/Irish citizen, you will need to present a passport and if necessary apply for a visa.

sarch_uk
You do not need to take your passport but you must have some form of photo id with you whether going by ferry or plane.

You can find all the details at this site regarding the Common Travel Area which exists between the UK and the Republic of Ireland...

Depends on where you are coming from.
If you are travelling south from the North, West or East of Ireland the answer is No.
If you are travelling by Ferry from the UK the answer is NO.
If you are flying from another country the answer is YES.

Depends. If you're going over the border from the North, you don't generally need one. If you're coming from mainland UK (England, Scotland, Wales) you need photographic proof showing that you're a UK citizen. A driving license would work.

We went about 4 years ago and didn't need one, but I don't now about today. Check at your local Travel Agents. Or the on-line passport office.

panenka

Éirerua
yes unless your planning on arriving in a dingy
