course it's safe to come to Belfast, it's now safer than most major cities in the Uk, check out these websites:

Northern Irish people are firendly and welcoming. Belfast is a lot safer than most major US cities. There is not half of the crime or violence or drug problems associated with out major cities. You will not see drug addicts or homeless people on the streets as you would say in Washington DC or New York or Chicago. So you will have a wonderful time exploring this beautiful region of Ireland. I suggest you log on to their tourism website, who will give you a lot more information. Trip Adivsior is also good for unbiased opinions and travel advice.

Belfast is really an amazing place. If you don't feel comfortable going by yourself you can take a Paddy wagon tour, they take you to the North,it's cheap, and they leave from Dublin Have fun there.

Yes, definately check out Northern Ireland, it doesn't get enough good press. There's some lovely spots...Giant's Causeway, anywhere along the coast is beautiful. My favourite place to bring visiting folk is the Omagh Folk Park. Don't forget to check out Donegal Town, the gem of North West Ireland. Here's some photos and pointers http://donegaltown.blogsome.com/
have fun.

Things are pretty good right now. It is safe to go to Belfast. I couldn't fit it in last year but my girlfriend did by herself. She was checking out her family tree.
