Yes you can visit Ireland!!!! You have a permit to be and work in the uk, which includes northern ireland, this makes you a temprary uk resident, so you have free reign to travel there. THIS IS EUROPE!!!!!! You can visit anywhere in Europe, you just can't work.

Edit: Apologies for my total lack of knowledge. Yes you need a visa. It's quick and straight forward to get one. I live near the border, so should you ever be visiting northern ireland and need directions, probably best if you don't ask me. lol.

The island of Ireland is split in two - the six counties that comprise Northern Ireland are part of the UK and you can visit Belfast for instance without a separate visa. The Republic of Ireland is a separate country and you will need a visa to visit but that may depend on where you're from.

This link leads to the Department of Foreign Affairs which has information on who does and does not need a visa:

This link will take you to the contact details of the Irish Embassy in London:

UK extends to northern Irland. you can visit Northern Irland but not Southern Irland.

if you go by coach you dont need a passport, but by air, which is better you need a passport to show in the airport to fly.
