What country are you from? If you are an American citizen,It takes 4 weeks standard or 2 to 3 weeks expedited to get a passport. there is no such thing as a temporary passport. There are 13 Regional passport agences in the U.S....if you live where you can possibly drive to one, you can call for an app't, go, wait and get your passort the same day. See site below for list. You can go to the 2nd site to print out the forms to fill out, then go get your photos so you are ready. There is no extra fee for this service. The passport will cost $100.00. |

I am truly sorry for your loss.
I have never heard of a temp passport.
You best bet is to ring your embassy and explain your situation and there is a very high chance depending what country you are from that they will issue you a passport straight away.
When I was living in Ireland,my Dad died in Australia and I was able to get my Australian passport in 24 hours because of the circumstance.
I was also able to get one of my children's Irish passport straight away,I did how ever had to show them I had plane tickets as proof that it was an emergency.
Take care. |

You can get a passport expedited in two days. If you go online and pull up expedited passports. The cost if you have it done by a private company is expensive but worth the cost. They actually walk it through. Now you can walk it thru yourself. There are four offices (Gov) that will let you expedite if you need it within 14 days of departure.
You need to book your reservations with plane to show proof that you need your passport expedited.
San Francisco
Los Angeles
Denver Colorado
Houston Texas
To name a few are Gov Passport offices that will expedite if you need it in 14 days or less.
You can go to the website call the number and make an appt to walk your own passport through.

No such place as southern Ireland, dear. It's the Republic of Ireland.
And you will probably get good advice from other answerers. |

If you look in the yellow pages of the phone book, you can apply for an expedited passport through one of the agencies listed for an extra fee. It may cost you $100 more, I think. You will still need to get your photos to them and proof of citizenship. You can also find these type agencies online. Google: expedited passport. |

If you are an American, go to the post office and apply for your passport ASAP!
I believe that you can actually get on a plane with the documents that the USPS gives you when you apply for a passport, but also carry with you your drives license and other valid I.D.
P.S I'm really sorry for your lost :-( |

yes, you could go on a travelers visa, but that may take a couple days to get, and i guess you can't move the event... sorry about the funeral but the travelers visa should help and if you are only going to stay for a couple days and if you tell the government the urgency of the situation they probably will hurry it as fast as allowed. |

A national I.D. card would suffice or Drivers licence and birth cert. That's if you're a British citizen of course. |

*Sigh* Sorry for your loss, but as usual with these questions you omit two vital pieces of information: WHERE ARE YOU TRAVELLING FROM, and WHAT COUNTRY ARE YOU A CITIZEN OF??
If you are travelling from the UK you do not need a passport to travel to the Republic of Ireland, except to comply with airlines' identity requirements - check with the airline if they will accept some other form of i.d. such as a photo driving licence. If you cross overland from Northern Ireland, either by road or train there are no border checks at all, nor if you cross the sea by ferry. |
