Are you related to Darn Tootin Gabby Hayes in Roy Roger's films ?

Jesus I didn't realise things were that bad, at least yet! I suppose maybe by the summer we'll be very much in need of your services.

The Missions!

I would imagine the best way to raise the money would be by trying to get a job.

_____________

Hi Gabby,

^ and v are examples of Irish humour (with a u). In Ireland missions are usually where religious orders like the Jesuits head out to 3rd world countries to offer humanitarian aid as well as convert all the heathens, but the humanitarian thing is usually is the main objective (I think).
That and given our current recession you may see the joke.

I should be doing something else
I agree with SJ - Surely we aren't at that stage yet?!

You could appeal to local businesses for funds to go on mission trips, but these are generally to third world countries where you go to make a difference? Or am I totally missing something here?

EDIT: Ok, I hear you. Well, in that case, as SJ says, the only thing for it is to get a job and save.

Like a Fox
Sorry but do you mean by missions?
I get the feeling you think Ireland is still in the dark ages for some reason.
The best way would be to find a job, people aren't going to donate money just so you can go off for the summer.

Sshhhh! It's Podge and Rodge

Do we need to have our souls saved?

Have a yard sale. Isn't that what ye call it?

you really shouldn't go if you can't afford to pay your own way.

Why are you calling it a missions trip then?

Google 'legal ways to raise money'.
