try the hill of tara. Theres a moterway going up near there soon, but I don't know when exactly.

read some artemis fowl books for the craic, which involves fairies.

and a word of advice - faeries are dangerous. people disapear the whole time. I know this sounds crazy, but a lot of Irish people believe it, and I'm one of them.

Faeries aren't anything like the tinkerbell or the tooth fairy. They are not to be messed with.

The whole idea of fairies and leprechauns comes from the story in mythology where the fir bolg (short and dark indigenous people) escaped to the mountains and moved underground when the Tuatha De Danaan (bright, magical, godlike people) invaded the country. The fir Bolg became leprechauns in later legend. When the Tuatha De Danaan were invaded by another race, they too escaped and went underground, to sleep. They link between our world and theirs (for they are the fairies), can be found in any opening into the ground (wells, caves etc), or in any of the ring forts that are dotted around the country, especially in places like Kerry, or in the tumuli (ancient barrow tombs) that you will find all over the place as well, try Tara for spectacular ones. But be careful, they are not to be trusted.

No faires are just folklore here although there are fairy rings where fairies are said to appear. Just a legend though...

they are all over in fairy rings but you cant climb a fairy ring or they'll kill you. Thats where i'm going when the doc tells me i'm terminally ill

You can find them where trees are.dont come were i live in ireland ,there are none because my newfoundlander dog ate them all.

there are alot of fairy rings around the whole country and fairy circles too. But the easiest place to see a fairy at in Ireland is at the bottom of a few Guinness bottles. ;) just kidding!!!! Enjoy your trip to Ireland its beautiful i highly recommend going to Dublin and also to Dingle on the west coast near Shannon, you can swim with a wild dolphin and go horse riding on the beaches.

I think they may have died out with the coming of the computer but if I had to harbour a guess as to where you would find one then I think you should try at the Hill of Tara, Co.Meath. It was where they were supposed to have lived anyway.

Go into any of the buildings in Ireland that have the word Guinness in the window or over the door. Order a couple of those. You'll soon see faeries....

I've heard that you can find them at the bottom of a fifth of scotch. Sorry, there's no such thing as fairies, but if you do find one, take pictures, you'll make a lot of money. ;)
