I live in UK - Is Dublin, Ireland classed as abroad?

I often post things on eBay and someone from Dublin has bought something without checking the postage with me first. I know some things that go to Ireland are airmail and some are just like sending an ordinary item in the UK. Is this classed as airmail or not? Thanks xx

It depends.

If it is going to Northern Ireland then as this is part of the UK then normal postage rates will apply

If it is going to Eire (Republic of Ireland) then it is going to another country and you will have to pay for 'airmail'. As Dublin is in Eire then yes it will be by 'airmail'

yes, although I do notice on ebay 3 different postage rates, 1 for UK, 1 for ROI , and 1 for rest of Europe.

It pi$$es me off though the rate charged to ireland. I was chaged €6.50, which is £5.14 , for postage which cost £1.24, which is €1.56.

I check out the postage now before I buy anything.

Yep,you use European Airmail rates.

Freyja .
ireland is a seperate country from the uk so i assume it goes that way postage-wise too

yes it is classed as over seas as republic of ireland is not part of the UK , i live in northern ireland and it is classed as normal UK mail

gstar
yes, the repiblic of eire is charged differently as it's seen as europe and northern Ireland is seen as part of uk.

Podge and Rodge Tribute Band
Yes. It is abroad.......
Although seeing as Stephen Roche and Sean Kelly and Barry McGuigan and Charlie Nash and Wayne McCullough and Steve Collins and The Republic Of Ireland soccer team (when we were doing well) were all classed as 'British' then we're not so sure.........

When I buy things on Amazon or Play.com it is classed as overseas when coming to Ireland so I think yes it is.

Well, seeing as Dublin is the capital of the Republic of Ireland, and you live in the United Kingdom, it's officially abroad, dear.

Ireland needs postage rates for Europe, and it goes by airmail, but if you choose Small Packet rate, it is very similar to the price of UK First Class stamp.

the republic of ireland is not part of the uk so it's classed as abroad

Yes because there two different countries if even if yuz on some of this great country!

ChrisC
seeing as it is called the REPUBLIC of ireland, that pretty much means that yes it's a separate country to the uk.

pedro dagandagan
If that someone was from Belfast, then that someone is within the U kingdom. However Dublin the capital of the Republic of Ireland and is located southwest of the island of ireland, then that someone you mentioned is definitely from abroad since dublin is no longer within the territory of UK. These things we learned from our grade schooll in Mindanao lessons on world geography. It would be best to ask your postal service office which is fastest means to send the parcel to the addressee in dublin.

yes dear ;)

Andy Rua
Yes - there's the big Irish sea you have to cross.

Death_on_the_stairs
It could certainly count as overseas so just charge them that rate. It's their fault for not checking the postage with you before buying it.

It saves you hassle and there's absolutely nothing dishonest about it.

If it has a post code no but if no post code abroad!
