I think you mentioned that you were going to Roscommon, its a very beautiful area Beside the Shannon and Lough Ree ,plenty of Fishing ,I wish I was moving there. Nice Pleasant Countryside . By my Reckoning About 80 - 90 Miles from Dublin to Roscommon Town. I dont forsee any Problems Its very nIce Where you are going to. Dublin is a very Nice City to Visit it has all the Georgian Architecture ,Beautiful Parks, and Shops. All around Grafton Street ,Wicklow Street,St Stephens Green, Templebar on the South of the Liffey .O Connell St ,Henry St , Liffey Street on the North side these are the main Shopping Areas for Nice Clothes. Like all Cities it has its Problems like Pickpockets Con Artists Drunks Druggies Be aware. Outside of Dublin the Scenery is very Beautiful, Wicklow, Kerry, Clare Donegal, Antrim, not forgetting the Midlands Tipperary Offaly The Slieve Blooms. When living down the Country it is preferable to have a Car to get around because of the Distances and unreliability of Public Transport. There is the Bus Eireann Bus that comes through the Area from Dublin usually every Hour it has a Red Setter Motif on the side. These Buses are the Country Public Tranport Service in Ireland run by CIE, you have to know the Timetable which is Printed on a Notice beside the Bus Stop. I cant think of anything else at the Moment Good Luck in Ireland. |

youre from UK so you'll find its a lot alike ...same weather, same programs on tv - you'll get all the english channels here, same food, drinking culture, same shops etc..
Irish are generally a friendly bunch. Theres some places to see , esp the west of ireland -galway, kerry, clare etc...so if you have a spare weekend you should try get down to see some of these places. Lovely scenery down there.
You'll have to adjust to the euro which im sure youre aware of..but that wont take long.
Ireland is getting more multi-cultural esp in the cities and towns, but the UK is still prob more multi-cultural.
The life here is pretty laid back...most people work to earn money so that they can pay the bills and enjoy life, which is different in comparison to north america where a lot of people i met there worked to improve their career and to earn more money than the next person. Thats not to say the irish dont care about work though so dont get me wrong lol, but its not the be all and end all.
Hurling and GAA (gaelic football) are very big over here, so if your into sports you might get interested in that. Of course the english prem has a big following too.
thats all i can think of at the moment...enjoy ireland :-) |

I just moved to Ireland 6 months ago and well its been hard but the people are lovely here the weather has had its ups and downs but in summer I'm told its really nice i moved in Autumn so i got so some of the beauty of the nice weather and the parks were beautiful then , winter was bitterly cold at times and wet at others but you wrap up and carry on hoping summer will come quick enough!!!
The shopping scene in Dublin is awesome!! i love it!! and temple bar, if you are a party goer , really liven ups on the weekend nights!!
As i said before the people here are amazing so friendly and inviting
Moving countries isn't easy and you cant expect to settle in 1.2.3! but settling in here sure makes it alot easier !!
if you want to ask any questions or need any advice i would more than happy to let you email me!! (add me to your friends)
Wish you all the best on your move!!
Enjoy!!

Ireland has fantastic scenery and some very friendly but the cities are not what they used to be they has been massive infusion of other nationality's.its hard to spot any Irish people walking the streets of Dublin sad but true.the country in Ireland has very warm and sincere people with beautiful views but local transport there is not always that great |

Well don't listen to the first person cause she isn't from Ireland well I am and honestly to sum it up, The weather is bad and not much to do here unless you like drinking the people are friendly though I wouldn't worry about moving here though honestly I think its much the same as anywhere else and you might find it hard to understand our accents lol
Edit: Hey you are from Uk I thought you were from America trust me its EXACTLY the same as England same food and weather so you should adjust pretty easily also if you move to the country areas there is some great scenery where I am from especially on the west coast but a bit of advice stay away from Dublin and Limerick they can be rough |
