Ice hockey in Ireland?

I just moved to Ireland from the states. I played college hockey over there and was looking to continue playing some form of hockey here aswell are there any leagues aside from the belfast giants?

there is 2 ice hockey leagues,

the first one is the main one - Irish Ice Hockey League - it has just 6 teams - the teams are Dublin Rams, Flyers IHC - both based in Dublin, Latvian Hawks - all players are from Lativa and are based in Dublin, Dublin Wolves, Dundalk Bulls and the Belfast Tesco Junior Giants.

the second league, kind of second division - Irish Ice Hockey League Recreational Division - has 13 teams - Lativan Hawks B, Dublin Rams B, Dublin Wolves B, Dundalk Bulls B, Flyers B, Junior Giants, Belfast Bruins, Dundalk Bulls Ladies, Drogheda Ice Breakers 1, Drogheda Ice Breakers 2, Kilkenny City Storm, Blackrock Whalers and DKIT (Dundalk Institute of Technology) Ravens.

there is a team called the Belfast Eagles aswell but don't know what league they play in.

all of the teams play their home games at the Dundalk Ice Dome, which is in Dundalk in County Louth. except the Belfast Tesco Junior Giants in the main league, and the Junior Giants & Belfast Bruins in the 2nd league, they play their home games at the Dundonald International Ice Centre, which is in Dundonald, County Down, Northern Ireland. most of the players are from Canada, an odd one from the USA, Ireland, England or Eastern Europe.

There isn't much call for ice hockey around parts of Leitrim, Monaghan or Cavan or anywhere else for that matter..............

I only know of the Belfast rink sorry - but they must have. I know the NHL does pre-season games over in the UK.

Have you seen hurling yet? Similar, but no ice. Great sport.

Ring various ice skating rinks and ask if they have a team.
I know that Dundalk Ice Dome holds games and has a team.

Not really, no. But you should look into hurling, it's not dissimilar.
