Why?

Thanks 4 the answers so far. Crazygirl i totally agree with you. Pope John Paul was such a great man but this dude, thinks Harry Potter should be banned and is evil and he wanted 2 introduce 7 extra deadly sins including ruining the environment and cloning.
I mean wtf?! I am Roman Catholic by the way..

No sorry I would not.

John Paul II, yes.
He was a great man.
I saw his speech in Ireland.
I was not born of course.
It was shown on T.V a while back.

He had such great Faith in people.
The person who shot him, he visited him in prison and
forgave him.

The present Pope is O.k, but he is a tad bit stict. Don't you think?

Edit: I agree he is a tad bit strict like. Things like Harry Potter are very important. You can't just ignore the Darkness in the World. Shure the book of Revelations in the Bible is scary stuff. Should he try and ban that too? Off course he could never do that. Ha, Ha. I don't see how Harry Potter is evil. It is fictional. Harry’s character is a good person trying to defeat evil. That sounds familiar to a few biblical themes, don’t you think?
Is it because of witches, he has problem with it?

The most clever thing the Devil ever did was to convince people he didn’t exist. (J.D said this in Scrubs, current season) I think he has succeeded. Lol

If people read more Dark literature about the constant battle between Good v Evil the World would be a much better place. But ignorance is bliss and we are covered with grey.

Because of the Church being so strict people turn away and get. “Catholic Guilt Syndrome”

I can’t say I ever had that problem. I don’t have the heart to be Guilty over crap like that. You cannot go a 100% totally with the Church.

If you are too strict on people they always do the opposite anyway.

No. When I visited Rome he didn't come to visit me.

Yes, but I'd stock up on rotten eggs and rotten tomatoes first, and learn to fire a rocket launcher.

No, it's not because I'm against Catholics, it's because the church is a corrupt organisation, and that guy who is now pope arranged for paedophile priests and nuns not to be punished under the law.

No 1. I'm not religious and 2. I'm not a fan.
Anyone else think he looks like the emperor in star wars?

Uh, no. Not because I'm an atheist, I just think he's evil. And for all the intelligent Catholics like yourself and crazygirl there's a bunch of braindead drones who take everything the church comes out with seriously and I ain't all that fond of brainwashing and mindless discrimination. If I may paraphrase Dougal McGuire: "I mean, the whole Catholic thing Ted. You're not supposed to take it SERIOUSLY. Sher it's only a bit of a laugh!"

I would have gone to see JP though. He was pretty kickass.

@Like a fox: I know! It's uncanny! You'll enjoy this: http://www.catholic.ie/

He definately will some day,

But Ireland is a totally different country from when JP2 visited,

We used to be afraid of the priests who had influence over politicians in making rules in the country, now theyve lost that respect and power aspect by the continuing allegations of sexual abuse of children,

My point being that a huge amount of people associate the new pope with all these cover ups and theyre wont bbe a huge turn out,

As for me? I might if im not washing me hair

Maybe, if my parents made me.
