Yeah, you can get both. A lot of foreign aid workers do this in case they get kidnapped they can then claim they are not british.

British-Actually NI is not part of Britain but is part of the UK. I doubt it if you mean applying for naturalisation but if you are from Northern Ireland you are automatically entitled to an Irish passport. You would not really need both though. Both have more or less the same privileges in relation to Visa waivers to the USA, neither are in Schengen etc

Naw if you LIVE in NI you could come from outer Siberia or Sub Saharan Africa which would not qualify you for squat, And I have never heard of an English passport ...What does that one look like????
is it all covered in wee roses...But on the other hand if you were born in Northern Ireland and can Substantiate the same
Then you would qualify to hold A British and an Irish Passport

yes you can as far as I know. However, to get a Irish one you must send away to get your "long" birth certificate as it is needed to get an irish passport and thus takes longer to get than the british passport.
