Bad stereotypes:
Drunks
Eat ONLY potatoes,or bacon and cabbage.
Have huge poor families
We're all called Paddy/Mary
Really Holy
Say stuff like(Be-gorra or O' be jaysus)
Drink guinness for breakfast
Wear a green item of clothing at all times
Believe in lepracauns
Good stereotypes(though not necessarily true):
Good looking
Good sense of humour
Fun
Friendly
Can all sing and dance well |

Almost everyone here in the States thinks all Irish people drink heavily and fight a lot. They think all Irish people hate the English and vice versa. Many people here even think the Irish wear kilts and play highland pipes... Every St. Patricks day our local bagpipers association marches up and down the street playing Scotland the Brave (over and over and over and sometimes playing Amazing Grace just to mix it up a bit). Its rather sad actually... |

the irish stereotypes have pretty much been covered....drunks, eat potatoes, wear green, leprachauns...and some people seem to think the country is full of sheep..cos of those postcards that has the pictures of sheep on a road and it says 'traffic jam in ireland'...i met a few people who took that literally lol.
as for rest of europe...some stereotypes :
France - bad breath, rude, ( sorry french people...i dont think this, its just a stereotype), have a lot of sex
Germany - very efficient, hard working
Sweden - all women are blonde with big boobs
Netherlands - theyre all stoned all the time
cant think of anymore right now.. |

Ok, stereotypes of Ireland... drink a lot, are friendly, wear Aran sweaters (and other old farmer's clothes and accessories), eat potatoes, men beat up their wives, women are always pregnant, are very religious, always fight, girls are slappers, boys are charming rogues... yeah right!
I can't think of stereotypes for all of Europe, but there are a lot for each country...
For example Italians are good looking, eat pasta, speak broken English like in the Dolmio ad, are mafiosi, drive Fiat and Vespa... I could go on forever. |

I think Irish stereotypes would be that you guys go to the pub a lot and drink plenty, and are often associated with leprechauns (I'm not saying this is true! I don't know! It's just a stereotype). As for the rest of Europe, there are too many to list them all. You might want to be more specific. I'll give a few examples though, and remember, I don't agree with these -- they are just stereotypes. French: always wear those striped black and white shirts, a beret, eat only French bread and croissants, and the men are good with the ladies. English: have crooked teeth, everyone has the same accent..... well that's it for now. Hope that helped! |

Italian men all cheat on their wives
italian women don't shave under their arms, have hair on their upper lip and are usually pregnant.
Spanish men are "slick and suave."
French men are all great lovers. |
