In Dublin for 2 weeks on business. What is the best way to spend the weekend? |
I want to make the most of my weekend off in Ireland. Good history and scenery are important. Also, what's good to eat in Ireland if you aren't into seafood? |

The best thing to do is to get out of Dublin for the weekend. Lots of sites are likely to be closed at this time of year, but I think that the Bunratty Folk Park is likely to be open, that's just past Limerick city (about 2 and a half hours from Dublin by car, or you can take the train), and you could drive around County Clare then, it's really nice. See the REAL Ireland as well as Dublin.
Food: Bacon and cabbage is a stapel, you could also try stew, it's very good, but there are other dishes and other cuisines. The Mogul Emperor is a very good Indian restaurant in Limerick (on Henry Street), and there are also many Italian, Chinese, Russian and now a few small Middle Eastern places as well.
Irish people don't really dig seafood ... but they like their meat. |

go to see the likes of Kilmainham Gaol, Christchurch Catherdal.go on a bus tour. if you have a car you should drive to wicklow-its bout an hour away and the scenery is fantastic plus theres the likes of Glendalough down there. Dublin city is full of all types of restuarants-you wont be stuck for choice.
Cant think of any other tourist attractions sorry-you never see half of them when you live there! |

If you explore Dublin in the evenings after work, why not escape atthe weekend and see some more of Ireland.
Belfast is only just over an hour away by train, and is a friendly and happening place. Lots to see and so and some great eateries without the rip off Dublin prices. From Belfast a drive round the Antrim coast is breathtaking,
If u want a guided tour - give me a shout, only too happy to oblige! |
