Well, I live there (when I'm not at university in the States here, anyway) so this might not count. But! The most bizarre thing I ever heard from somebody else's view was that banshees are real, roam freely, and are quite common.
That and everybody apparently drinks one pint of a Guiness a day. EVERYONE! But I think that's a pretty common misconception... ;D
