Are you currently living in the US? If so, I'd transfer to Dublin Ireland, it would be an adventure, and completely different to what your used to, its always a great experience to live and immerse yourself in another culture, even for a few years. Its also easy to get to all the European capitals from Dublin, so you could really put the effort in and explore.
Downside is, I know a lot of Irish people who moved to the US years ago, and wanted to resettle home just couldn't hack it, so there is a chance the change of pace, or attitude of us Irish could be too much to handle, and its expensive too, but the prices are coming down due to the recession.
For me personally, if I got a chance to move to a completely different country for a year, with work guaranteed I'd jump at the chance, all travel affects you in some way, mostly positively, so take the chance and go for it |

I have a touch of Irish in my ancestry and live here in Reno.We have the desert for camping and rockhounding, hunting, lakes and a river for fishing. Lake Tahoe is not far away. Historical virginia city is only 1/2 hour away as in the state capitol Carson City.Skiing all winter long at your choice of world class resorts. California is only @10 miles away.
24/7 Casino gambling if you're into it. something to do all summer long. hot August nights classic car show all over Reno and sparks. The "Best of the West" BBQ Rib festival and lots of others too. |

Two very different worlds .... that must be a hard choice.
You know what, even though I was born and reared in Ireland, I couldn't tell you which would be better. I think you'll have to toss a coin! |

Galway or Edinburgh (Scotland). I wouldn't try to live in Nevada first of all, I can't stay away from the sea, and I am not American. I heard it ain't the best place for non Americans to live... |

It is an interesting choice - between the American West and the Emerald Isle. Reno has some very beautiful scenery and wide open spaces; it does give one a real appreciation for what the pioneers went through. But I would choose Dublin. I have been to both places and I prefer Dublin; just my opinion. It really depends on what you are looking for in culture climate and activities available.
I don't think many Irish people have even heard of Reno, I am interested to see what answers you'll get.
I'm not Irish, I am American with Irish roots and family. |
