California is an interesting state, lots of variety. There are quite a few Irish expats in San Francisco who can give you practical information. It's a huge state, try to see as much as you can. The weather and scenery is amazing - the beaches in the southern part have a climate similar to the Mediterranean, it hardly ever rains, while the wine regions in the North (Napa) look a bit like Italy/Tuscany and have mild weather. San Francisco is generally cool and of course, foggy.
There is anything you can imagine to do; Californians are generally very friendly and optimistic - they aren't afraid to try new things. As a result, there is lots going on all the time.
The state parks are wonderful; make sure you visit the redwoods, the oldest living things on the planet, and the deserts as well. The beaches are great and there is also snow skiing up in the mountains.
And yes there are fires and the odd earthquake - but people still live there, so how bad can it be? More people die in Ireland of driving accidents in a year than are killed by either fire or earthquakes in California. |

I don't live in California however i have been, if you are traveling you should go all around california from, la jolla which is 15 minutes from sandiego airport, i wouldn't stay in a hotel there because it is pricey!
Other gorgeous places:
1) Newport Harbor/Beach.
2) Laguna beach
3) Pacific beach.
4) Coronado beach.
there is so many wonderful places.
Malibu is gorgeous!
If your into the city live and shopping then i would visit LA or hollywood.
Thats one place i didn't visit, but regret it! |

Switzerland, Spain, Parts of Italy are lovely if you want to live in Europe. If you want a very well organized place, clean and safe then something like Denmark, Parts of Germany, Austria, Sweden for more relaxing and friendly, Spain, Italy, South of France, but you have to speak languages...You can combine it with Switzerland, very friendly ppl (the reputation abt coldness is just a MYTH) and very very very chemical clean and organized
US Has lovely cities like Boston, New York, Tampa, Austin, San Francisco... (which is in California) Los Angles (I don't really like that city personally)...
Now to your question Ireland or California.... California, cause the ppl in Ireland are extremely xenophobic but even there it's not a paradise, There are a lot of fires and earthquakes and you have to get use to live with the rage of the nature... |
